Josh17 viewsHere's Josh looking cheerful in hospital, even though he'd just been involved in a very nasty accident. Nice touch getting the cast to match his T-mobile top.Jun 22, 2008

Mont Ventoux9 viewsWarmer at the bottom of the climb and proudly representing the club on the continent. Now the second member of the Club Velo Mont Ventoux (Pembrokeshire Branch). Its a climb everyone should do once. You won't want to do it again.Jun 22, 2008

Tom Simpson's Memorial10 viewsMe at Tom Simpson's memorial near the top of Mont Ventoux. I rode the climb in 1hr 53m which was outside Nic Brown's time of 1hr 45m. As Nic said, imagine the Maudlins for 22.7k. (14miles) I did it in fog and rain and gale force winds. And I descended: Nic had a lift (cheater). My knees turned blue. Note the Mother Theresa headgear. At one point on the top, the wind blew the bike from under my grip and I was holding it horizontally in the wind, hoping it would not blow off the mountain like my friend's £300 prescription Oakleys had!! My hardest day on the bike until I rode the Tourmalet in the Pyrenees.Jun 22, 2008

Tourmalet11 viewsThis was the only proof we had that we'd climbed the Tourmalet. We couldn't hang around as we'd have frozen to death. 19k at an average of 7.4% with sections of nearly 11%. The pic does not show it but it was blizzard conditions and snowed for the last 3k of the climb, having rained for the rest of it. On the descent, my hands froze and I had to put 4 newspapers down my top to keep me warm. Hardest thing I've ever done is climb this. Scariest thing I've done is descend it in the snow.Jun 22, 2008
